Central West Health Frequently Asked Questions

All your questions answered on the revolutionary Emsella Chair…

Central West Health answers all the FAQs on the Emsella Chair – the non-invasive, drug and surgery-free treatment for urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction.

Is this a female only treatment or do you treat men also?

While men have the same types of incontinence as females, men can also suffer from dribbling, slow urine flow or lack of pressure when urinating and even have problems starting urine flow. We treat both men and women for bladder leakage using the Emsella chair and we treat men for erectile dysfunction using the same techniques.

How does Emsella treatment feel?

Emsella is a comfortable, truly non-invasive treatment and you remain fully clothed throughout the procedure. You will feel your entire pelvic floor area tightening and contracting.

Who is the right candidate for Emsella treatment?

Emsella treatment is suitable for both men and women of any age who desire a non-surgical solution for urinary incontinence. Your suitability and medical history will of course need to be assessed. Patients with certain implants or medical devices may not be eligible for treatment. To have your suitability for Emsella treatment confirmed, simply book a free consultation below.

How long is the treatment and how many treatments will I need?

Each treatment takes 28 minutes, and the recommended number of treatments is two treatments per week for three weeks, a total of six treatments.

When will I see/ feel results?

In general, patients feel a benefit from the first treatment, however this may vary depending on your age and physical condition. Positive results typically continue to improve over the three weeks of treatment, and usually for the following three months.

How does Emsella compare to Kegel exercises?

Emsella treatment stimulates more than 11,000 super-intense pelvic muscle contractions in a half hour treatment. Patients cannot achieve this frequency and intensity by performing Kegels, therefore, Emsella is considered a superior solution.

Is it safe?

Emsella is a United States FDA and Australian TGA-cleared medical device. There are no reported side effects.

Is there any downtime or recovery?

There is absolutely no downtime associated with Emsella treatment. You can return to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment.

What does the treatment feel like?

The sensation is difficult to quantify however you will not be in any discomfort whilst sitting on the BTL Emsella chair. Being non-invasive, you remain fully clothed during the treatment and could even read a book – it’s that easy.

Check your suitability for this treatment here…

Your suitability for treatment will be determined during your initial consultation. As this technology relies on magnetic therapy, anyone with metal implants or a pacemaker or who is pregnant may not be suitable for treatment on the Emsella chair. We do not do treatments for anyone with a hip replacement however shoulder replacement patients have been successfully treated.
